Bilingual Staff Therapist/Intake Clinician

Expanded Mental Health Services of Chicago NFP, the founding organization of The Kedzie Center and the LoSAH Center of Hope/Centro de Esperanza, seeks a full-time bilingual clinician to serve as the LOSAH Intake Clinician and Staff Therapist. This position supports our mission of increasing access to culturally informed quality mental health care to residents of Chicago’s northwest side. A non-profit organization, the Center is the third community-funded clinic in Chicago that provides individual, family, and group therapy, psychiatric care, and case mmanagement for as long as needed regardless of the client’s ability to pay (www.thelosahcenter.org). Our model seeks to enhance access to community-based mental health care and education that is tailored and responsive to each community.  

 

The ideal candidate will have an interest in and commitment to community mental health and working with adults, children, and their families. This clinician will provide a variety of clinical services to include therapy, school-based psychoeducation and process groups, and community interventions. Individuals with interest in an approach that emphasizes depth, insight, and relationships while also acknowledging the psychosocial impact of contextual factors are encouraged to apply. The intake position is expected to range from 14-18 hours/week screening prospective clients, providing support and clinical referrals. This position reports to the Director and works in coordination with the supervisory and administrative teams. This position has opportunities for professional growth as a community psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and/or administrator, as well as opportunities to develop innovative programming and specialization.  Approximate weekly hours: 16 hours intake, 5 hours training and supervision, 17-19 hours cases, notes and other required meetings.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Master’s level degree in clinical field required (LPC, LSW, AMFTs welcome).

  • Ability to provide therapy and psychoeducation in Spanish strongly preferred. 

  • Interest in providing group and community interventions. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams.   

  • Attention to detail, strong communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities/Essential Duties: 

  • Provide intake screenings for prospective clients to assess fit and screen for financial assistance, as needed.  Works with team to assign cases and provide clinical referrals.

  • Carry a clinical caseload of psychotherapy clients (10-12/week); may co-facilitate (bilingual) groups, as needed (i.e., parent-child play groups, child or adolescent groups, parent education workshop series).  

  • May provide case management services to clients, including needs assessment, goal setting, plan development, advocacy and referralsand monitoring of progress.  

  • Develop collaborative relationships with local partner organizations such as schools, social service agencies, health providers, and religious institutions to ensure strong referral pathways and process.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary staff meetings, clinical supervision, weekly clinical case conference and professional development training (approx. 5 hours/week).

  • May participate in providing community mental health education and prevention.  

  • Support program evaluation for quality assurance and grant compliance.  

  • Maintain records and compliance with agency and state requirements.  

  • Assist with clinical and administrative activities as needed to achieve organizational mission.
